What does it mean to be Asian American?

Being an Asian American means being able to enjoy two worlds. America has so much to offer including diversity and opportunity. As an Asian American I can incorporate values and traditions of my culture with those of American culture.

What motivates you to do what you do everyday?

My family, my responsibility as a human being.

Ethnic background(s): Pakistani
Current city & state: Winnetka, Illinois

What do you worry about?

Lately, I see so much hate and negativity in this world. I am so aware of everything from poverty to racisms to war to climate change. I am not sure why we can't understand that ultimately we all want the same things. Don't we all want peace, prosperity and good future for our children. We need systems in place to help coordinate good will towards each other and therefore the world. We all have something to offer this world and we can all benefit from that.

What brings you joy? When I see humanity at its best.

What is your wish for the United States? To show the world that diversity in race, religion and culture can bring prosperity. Stop the hate and unit for the good of all man. United States can be an example for that.

What role do you play, or want to play in making that wish come true? Teach my children to be good people of this earth and contribute to society in a positive way.

Anything else you wish to say about being Asian American? I love it. Having exposure to different cultures makes me a better person.
